Credit where credit is due.

In my last post I mentioned that I had bought some grips from Sumo at Vintage Chop that was Monday. It's now Wednesday and the postman has just delivered them. Top Service.

Now I'm going to read the Limpnickle Builder Manual that arrived from the states at the same time.

Boredom Costs ££££

I'm recovering from an operation on my foot. I'm bored. When I'm bored I spend money.

Last week I went to the VAT free day at Machine Mart. I bought a parts washer and a new tool chest (now I have a Harley I've had to buy AF spanners, torx bits etc and I need somewhere to store them).

I've also bought a set of grips from http://vintagechop.bigcartel.com/product/baxter-x-grips

I'm not sure if its worse not getting any shed time because I'm too busy with work or being stuck at home bored and unable to work on bikes while recovering.

All the way from the USA....

These came from Lowbrow over a while ago but I only got down to the workshop on thursday.

They're for NAPS (Not A Project Sportster). Plan is to fit the tracker bars and return to mid controls. Last week I got a quote from the local franchised HD place and they wanted £140 for the parts I needed to run mid controls. This lot came up on ebay with a BIN of £50.

Everything I need is there (and more) only potential fly in the ointment is they were listed as for a '96-'03 bike but as I'm not aware of any difference (at least for the parts I want) between a '94 and a'96 I figured it was worth the risk.

Still not a project.....

Just ordered a set of Biltwell tracker bars from Lowbrow for the Not a Project Sporty.

Still doesn't make it a project though so my one project at a time rule is still in place....

Not a Project Sportster II

Picked up the stuff from Lowbrow yesterday, they threw in a few stickers and a magazine for free which was nice.

So today I decided to fit the seat to my bike and remove some of the chrome that was on it.

Here's the back end of the bike before I started.

And here it is with the new seat and the some of the chrome removed.

Here is the stuff I've take off so far...

Not a project sportster.

Even though it definitely not a project I ordered some bits for the Sporty from lowbrow. Took a few weeks to clear customs but they're in the country and I've paid Import duty on them (which added 50% to the cost) and I should be getting them tomorrow (ish).

Bastards...

Went up to the Mushroom Shed to continue getting my FJ ready for the summer. Only to find someone has 'customised' the tank.

I was really pissed off by this but once I calmed down I managed to get the FJ running and rode it around the yard, clutch seemed OK but one of the pipes didn't seem to get as hot as the others. I'm hoping that it's just some crap in the carb or something trivial and it will sort itself out when I actually take the bike out on the road. All I need to do not is take it off SORN.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the TriBSA before clearing a space in the clutter that has gathered in the Mushroom Shed so I can park the bike inside.
